School Trips

Erika Cornari (3aI)

Have you ever been on a school trip to a foreign country? Why don’t you try? You just need a strong will to improve your language and adapt to the local habits. To give you an example, I’m going to tell you about my experiences in Valencia and in Edinburgh.

These two cities are completely different. The former is always warm and sunny, while the latter is often cold and rainy. Spanish people are friendlier, but I enjoyed my Scottish host family more. They were very sociable, helpful and kind to me, we talked a lot and on the last day they even took me to visit the city by car. The food wasn’t so appetizing but, as I said before, I adapted myself. While I was in Valencia I saw a lot of churches and museums. The best of all was the City of Arts and Sciences, which is modern and interactive. On the other hand, while I was in Edinburgh my attention was caught by the magnificence of the Scottish landscapes.

The leisure activity I liked most was the Spanish dinner because paella is really delicious and I had a lot of fun with my classmates

I wasn’t allowed to go out in the evening, but my teachers, my friends and I sometimes met in the evenings to spend some time together. While we were in Valencia, we went out for a typical Spanish dinner; in Edinburgh we were taken on a guided walking tour of Underground Edinburgh and we went bowling as well. The leisure activity I liked most was the Spanish dinner because paella is really delicious and I had a lot of fun with my classmates. The school I attended was better in Spain than in Scotland, because I noticed the improvement of my Spanish, instead my English didn’t improve so much.

They were two experiences I enjoyed a lot and I’m sure you’ll do the same, if you just go on a similar trip. So, what are you waiting for? Tell your teacher and go to visit new places.
